Level 2 Photography

PHO200
Course Description

Teacher to contact with questions: Ms L. Nicholson

The Arts are a powerful form of communication that recognise the value and contribution to society that employers are looking for today. Through studying the arts you will explore, challenge and celebrate your uniqueness and your way of seeing the world by being stimulated to take risks, connect your thinking and participate in creativeness independently and collaboratively.
These courses will give you the opportunity to think outside the box, problem solve and generate stimulating pieces of art. All of the arts are taught through negotiated programs and we not only cover all the key competencies but have the values and principles of the NZC intrinsically embedded within our courses. All jargon? Then read on ………….

At last the subject you have been waiting for. You will be learning all about digital photography and through this you will specifically be required to generate and develop ideas in digital photography around a common co-constructed theme. You will look at the different conventions (ways of seeing and doing) that are specific to photography and build up your IT skills in photo manipulation. You will make these in a connected way relating several pieces together, similar to what we see in a product or photography exhibition, giving you the opportunity to take part in this. You will have to leave your comfort zone.

Modules:
Term 1 Learning about basic photography and photographers
Term 2 Publishing a photographic item
Term 3 Folio boards
Term 4 Folio board completion and group project

You will have:
• A portfolio of work to take into further education and employment
