Level 2 Advanced Mathematics and Statistics

Course Description

Mathematics is fundamental in being able to solve problems. Mathematics can be challenging, but it is useful in a variety of professions and future pathways. Beyond NCEA Level One, Mathematics becomes specialised and focuses on more abstract ideas and problems that require logical and critical thinking skills.
MAT201 builds on NCEA Level One knowledge and focuses on abstract Algebra and Calculus, or on Statistics. This course gives you the option to choose which assessments you focus on.

Algebra Options: System of Equations (AS91269), Algebra (AS91261), Calculus (AS91262)

Recommended Prior Learning

Students must have gained at least 14 credits in MAT101 or MAT102 and at least two Merits in NCEA Level 1 Mathematics Internal Assessments or at least one Achieved in an NCEA Level 1 Mathematics External Assessment.
